Flower Department Rules for Entry

Flower Department 

Lisa Nelick and Crystal Harris, superintendents 
• Entries are to be grown by the exhibitor.

• Fresh flower sand greenery are to be used in arrangements, except where dried is specified.

• No plastic or silk flowers or greenery.

• Specimens (everything except arrangements) are to have only the flower and its own foliage.

• Sizes are approximate.

• Superintendents will make final decisions on size and category.

• Prizes are First: $1.50, Second: $1, Third: $.75 unless otherwise noted, Best of show: $5.

 • Entries will be judged at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

Section A Roses 1. Bud in vase 2. Hybrid tea – 1 bloom 3. Floribunda or Grandiflora – 1 spray 4. Miniature – 3 blooms

Section BAnnuals 5. Small Marigold – 3 stems 6. Large Marigold – 3 stems 7. Small Zinnia – 3 stems 8. Large Zinnia – 3 stems 9. Small single Petunia – 1 spray 10. Large single Petunia – 1 spray 11. Double Petunia – 1 spray 12. Crested Cockscomb – 1 stem 13. Plumed Celosia – 1 stem 14. Cosmos – 3 stems 15. Impatiens – 3 stems 16. Coleus – 1 stem 17. Sunflower – 1 stem 18. Any other flowering annual – 3 stems

Section C Perennials 19. Coneflower – 3 stems 20. Rudbeckia – 3 stems 21. Any other flowering perennial – 3 stems 22. Hosta leaf – 1 stem

Section DBulbs, corms, tubers, rizomes 23. Small border dahlia – 3 stems 24. Large dinner plate dahlia – 1 bloom 25. Gladiolus – 1 spike 26. Canna – 1 stem 27. Lily – 1 stem 28. Caladium – 1 leaf 29. Any other bulb-type flower – 1 stem

Section E Planters 30. Planter of flowering annuals 31. Outdoor planter of any type 32. Any houseplant, foliage or blooming 33. African Violet – 1 plant 34. Cactus – 1 plant or garden with more than 1 variety 35. Hanging basket or planter, foliage or blooming

Section F Miscellaneous 36. Pretty pair – 2 of a kind 37. Bouquet of cut flowers – 2 or more kinds

Section G Arrangement 38. Miniature – 5” or under in any direction 39. For table centerpiece 40. Dried botanicals, wreath, swag, arrangement or garland 41. Wild flower bouquet 42. Exhibitor’s Choice arrangement – any size except miniature. Must use fresh flowers. Can use fresh greenery, dried fillers and other materials and items, but no silk or artificial flowers or greenery. Exhibitor is to give the arrangement a title and submit on a 3”x5” index card to be displayed with the arrangement.
